I've been living outside of Japan more than 10 years but my PR card (status) shows 7 years ago.Can I still purchase the JR Pass?: Yes,you can.If you can prove it by presenting a certificate issued by an embassy/consulate general of Japan.
Please note that the certificate is not qualified if you have not lived in the same province for more than 10 years.
For exmple:
Qualify: If you have lived in Vancouver, BC for 7 years and Kamloops, BC for 3 years (Total 10 years).
NOT Qualify: If you have lived in Vancouver, BC for 7 years and Toronto, ON for 3 years (Total 10 years).

I need to apply for a Certificate of Overseas Residence to the consulate general of Japan. Can I purchase a JR Pass on the same day?: Yes,you can.
You can purchase a JR Pass on the same day AFTER you received the Certificate of Overseas Residence from the consulate general of Japan (NOT BEFORE).

My passport name and PR card name are slightly different. Which name shall I use for JR Pass?: Name for JR Pass has to be your passport name.
You will have to apply for written proof if those documents' names are different except the name in ( ).Please contact us for more details.

Can I get a refund if I canceled my Japan Rail Pass Exchange order?: Yes,you can.
You can cancel within one year from the issued date and you need to return an unused JR Pass Exchanege Order(voucher). 20% of the purchase price will be deducted as a cancellation fee and refunded. Please see [How to cancel and refund] for details. *Delivery fee excluded from refund. *The refund will be made to the original payment method. It may take time to refund, depending on the confirmation of cancellation. Once the Japan Rail Pass has exchanged for an actual pass it becomes 100% non-refundable.

What is Green ?: Most Shinkansen “bullet trains”have Ordinary (second class) cars, and Green (first class) Cars.
Green car seats and both reserved and non-reserved ordinary car seats. Usually Green car is quiet and less crowed, and the train feels more spacious and comfortable. Shinkasen seats on the Green car have 4 rows (2 rows + 2 rows) and Ordinary car have 5 rows of seats ( 2 rows + 3 rows) that width of the green seat is wider. The green car has a deeper reclining angle and you can recline the seat deeper than the Ordinary car.
※Some Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen have 4 rows of seats in a standard car, which is the same width as a green car.
※During busy times, the train is almost full, and some people have choice to take the green car because the ordinary car is full, so tranquility is not guaranteed.

Do we need to make seat resevations with Oversized Baggage?: Yes,you need.
Oversized luggage is overall dimensions of more than 160 cm. You are required to reserve a seat with an oversized baggage area onto the following bullet trains(Shinkansen) from 20th May 2020.

My child will be 12 years old during the trip in Japan, can I buy the child pass?: Yes,you can.
The child pass applies to children aged 6 to 11 on the date of purchase through the date of issue of the voucher.
The child can use it even if he/she are 12 years old on the day of use.

Who can buy a Regional JR Pass?: Non-Japanese passport holder can buy.
Regional JR Pass is only for a foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad for sight-seeing purposes under the entry status of 'temporary visitor'
Those who enter the Japan with a Japanese passport can NOT buy.

I haven't decided the start date, can I buy JR Pass?: Yes,you can.
The final usage start date will be decided when redeeming for the JR Pass in Japan, but it is necessary to confirm that the voucher is issued within 3 months.
Please enter an approximate scheduled start date.

I would like to use two JR Passes myself, can I buy them?: Yes,you can.
Due to system reasons, multiple purchases cannot be made at once.
Please complete the required number of procedures.
If you purchase within 1 hour, you can select addtional order in shipping option.

Can I reserve a seat in ordinary/green cars?: Yes,you can.
There is no additional charge for making seat reservations.
By using a reserved seat ticket machine located at JR stations,
and also by showing your JR PASS at any “Midori-no-madoguchi” (ticket office) at a JR station.

Can I use the 7-day JR Pass in several weeks?: No,you can not.
JR Pass is valid only for consecutive days. You cannot select 7 separate days over a period of weeks or months to use it.

When does it expire?: Example: If you activate a 7-Day Pass at 1pm on 1st June, it will expire at midnight on 7th June. Exceptions: If you get the train at 11:50PM and arrive at midnight at 12:30AM something like is allowed.
