What is JR PASS?
JAPAN RAIL PASS (covering all Japan) and REGIONAL PASSES are a special pass that is available only to travelers visiting Japan from foreign countries for sight-seeing.
Who can buy?
You are eligible to purchase a PASS/ if you meet following conditions:

Eligibility for foreign tourist visiting Japan from abroad for sight-seeing under the entry status of 'temporary visitor'
"Temporary visitor" entry status, according to Japanese Immigration Law, allows a stay in Japan of 15 days or 90 days for "sight-seeing, etc." If you apply for a "stay for sight-seeing" when you enter Japan, entry personnel will stamp your passport "temporary visitor".
Only persons who have a passport bearing this stamp can use a JAPAN RAIL PASS.
*Automated Gates at the airport.
No "temporary visitor" stamp/sticker will be stampled on your passport if you use the automated gates.
You need to either use a manned automated gate or ask a clerk to apply a stamp/sticker.
*TTP card
If you have "registered user card" under the Trusted Traveler Program, you will be required to show the card to confirm the "Temporary Visitor" status.

Eligibility: People who have both their Japanese passport and written proof-obtained from the embassy or legation of Japan in the foreign country where they live – that they have been living legally in Canada for 10 consecutive years or more
Information needed in each written proof to meet the eligibility requirements
1. Copy of Overseas Residential Registration
-Limited with a date of acceptance at least 10 years or earlier
2. Certificate of Overseas Residence
-Limited with a date at least 10 years earlier as the date on which your address (or place of temporary residence) was established as your present address
3. Permanent Resident Card:
-The date record on the reverse side of your PR card must be at least 10 years or earlier (Limited to the USA, Brazil and Canada).
-The name and date of birth must be the same as the passport.
You must provide any one of the above documents, along with your passport.

Caution |
Even if you visit Japan with an Exchange Order, to be turned in for a JAPAN RAIL PASS, the exchange cannot be made unless you have "temporary visitor" status; if you enter Japan under any other official status, such as "trainee" or "entertainer", you can not change the Exchange Order for a JAPAN RAIL PASS. Please note that according to strict interpretation of the Japanese Immigration Law, "temporary visitor" status differs even from other types of stays that are also for only short time periods.
When you exchange to JAPAN RAIL PASS, you must submit the original Exchange Order.

How to obtain?
Purchase an Exchange Order before you leave for Japan and exchange the voucher in Japan.

When to order?
Your JR PASS Exchange Order (hereinafter referred to Voucher) must be turned in for an actual pass within 3 months of the date the issued.
Please submit your order at least 7 days prior to your trip. In case of urgent orders, Orders with local pickup options may be available. Please contact us and make an appointment before visiting our office.

Please input the full name carefully when you order the Pass. Your name will be shown on the Voucher the same as your input at the order box.
You will not be able to exchange vouchers in Japan if your name does not match with the name on your PASSPORT. If you have a middle name on your PASSPORT, please enter your middle name too. If you have any concerns, please contact us.
Re-issue (name correctios etc.):
A re-issuing fee applies ($35+TAX) per pass for any changes such as name corrections.
